Welcome! I’m Dr. Ashley Freeman, a Licensed Psychologist, dedicated to helping individuals uncover their authentic selves, heal from past wounds, build healthier relationships, and find meaning in their work and relationships. My mission is to create a safe, compassionate space where you can explore your inner world, grow in self-awareness, and embrace a life that brings you joy and feels true to you.
I offer career counseling as well as individual therapy to adults. In my work with clients, I bring warmth, empathy, and a commitment to walking alongside you as you navigate your path to healing and growth. My practice is grounded in creating a nonjudgmental, inclusive environment where you feel safe to explore and grow.
My Background
I grew up in Richmond, Virginia. My love of psychology and curiosity about “what makes people tick” was sparked at a young age when I was first introduced to a popular personality test, the Myers Briggs Type Inventory, around the age of 13. I purchased a book with a free version of the test and pestered my friends and family members to take it so I could better understand the people in my life.
I earned Bachelor’s Degrees in Psychology and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After college, I worked for a large consulting firm in Washington, DC for a few years before returning to graduate school to earn a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Iowa State University.
Since 2011, I have practiced in North Carolina, Virginia, and now practice in a suburb of Des Moines, Iowa. In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my family and our dog, Willie. I love anything on or near water, going on walks, deep conversations with friends, meeting new people, and tending to my ever-growing collection of house plants.
I offer in-person services in the Des Moines area and telehealth services throughout the state of Iowa.
